EYE : a unique and complementary experience to adult education

At valang consulting, we work every day to help adults take their first steps into entrepreneurship. Whether they are job seekers, career changers, or individuals with a business idea but no clear roadmap, we support them through practical, accessible training. But sometimes, the classroom is not enough. What many aspiring entrepreneurs sometimes need is a chance to see how a business runs in real life.

That is exactly what the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) programme offers. And having taken part ourselves, we have seen firsthand just how powerful this experience can be.

EYE is not a traditional training course. This initiative of the European Union  is a professional exchange. A new or aspiring entrepreneur goes to another European country and works alongside an experienced business owner for several weeks or months based on their special needs and objectives. During this time, they are not just observing — they are actively learning, asking questions, and gaining insights they would never find in a textbook.

At Valang Consulting, we had the opportunity to take part in the programme as a New Entrepreneur. We were lucky to be hosted by a very professional and welcoming company, Yama Yami Ltd., in Malta. Through this experience, we could truly feel the transformation: more confidence, a clearer direction, and new connections that opened doors across borders.

Why is this programme so complementary to adult education?

Because adult learners often bring life experience, motivation, and ideas — but they may lack exposure or real-world examples. Our courses teach them the foundations: how to plan, organise, launch, and manage a business. But through Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, they get to apply that knowledge, test their assumptions, and build relationships with entrepreneurs who are already making it work.

It also builds soft skills in a natural way. Living and working in another country teaches adaptability, communication, and resilience. These are not just personal qualities — they are key entrepreneurial assets.

The programme also offers something very practical: a grant to support living and travel costs, which helps many adults who might not otherwise afford such an opportunity. For those who are restarting their careers or exploring entrepreneurship later in life, this support is essential.

As an organisation focused on inclusion, upskilling, and creating new pathways, we see Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs as a perfect extension of our work. It gives our learners something no classroom can fully provide: real business immersion, international perspective, and mentorship that can truly change the course of a project — or a life.

At valang consulting, we are also available to discuss your EYE project, share our own experience, and offer structured education to help you make your project successful. Whether you need help refining your idea, preparing for the exchange, or strengthening your business model, we are here to support you on that journey.

if you are an entrepreneur or entrepreneur-to-be, we highly encourage you to explore this programme. It brings Europe closer, and it brings entrepreneurship to life.
